Community organisations receive assistance

To assist community organisations in their quest to provide healthcare services to those who need it most, the Port Elizabeth Eye and Laser Institute has donated new examination gloves and Linensavers to three Service organisations in the metro whose healthcare workers care for the terminally ill, the elderly as well as HIV patients.

According to Elsabe Pretorius, Nursing Manager, the Institute had received numerous requests from organisations for donations and a decision was made to make a once-off donation to three organisations within the metro.  “In this way we are making a valued contribution to organisations that are bettering the lives of others,” said Pretorius.

The receivers of the donation included Huis Najaar, a home for the aged in Despatch, along with Christian Social Services Eastern Cape and St Francis Hospice in Port Elizabeth.

Dr Andries Marais, managing director of the Eye and Laser Institute in Port Elizabeth handed over the donation to Mrs Hitge, matron of Huis Najaar (second left). Sister Greyling (left) and Sister Palmer were also present.
